FAQ

Chimney sweep questions, answered.

The questions Orlando homeowners ask us most before booking a sweep.

How often should I get my chimney swept in Florida?
At least once per year, ideally before fall. Florida humidity accelerates creosote buildup and animal nesting even on lightly used chimneys. NFPA recommends annual inspection regardless of use frequency. Heavy users (more than 2 fires per week through the season) should sweep twice per year.
How much does a chimney sweep cost in Orlando?
A standard chimney sweep in Orlando runs $189 to $349 depending on access, chimney height, and add-ons like smoke chamber cleaning or animal removal. The Chimney Team gives a firm price over the phone or before any work starts, with no surprise upcharges.
How long does a chimney sweep take?
A standard sweep with Level 1 inspection takes 60 to 90 minutes. A sweep plus smoke chamber cleaning takes 90 to 120 minutes. We do not rush jobs.
Will sweeping make a mess in my home?
No. We use drop cloths and a HEPA vacuum that captures dust at the source. Most clients say the living room is cleaner after we leave than before we arrived.
Do I need to do anything before you arrive?
Just make sure the firebox is cold (last fire at least 24 hours before our visit) and clear about 6 feet around the fireplace. We bring everything else.
Can you sweep gas fireplaces too?
Yes, gas log and gas insert systems still need annual inspection and cleaning. Different process than wood-burning but same booking flow. Mention it when you call so we bring the right setup.
What is creosote and why does it matter?
Creosote is a tar-like residue from burning wood. It builds up inside the flue in three stages: light flakes (Stage 1), thicker crunchy buildup (Stage 2), and glazed hardened deposit (Stage 3). Stage 3 is the dangerous one because it is highly flammable and is the cause of most chimney fires. Annual sweeps prevent Stage 3 from forming.
Do you service my city?
Almost certainly. We cover the full Orlando metro from two locations: Central Orlando (Winter Park, Maitland, Oviedo) and West Orlando (Ocoee, Winter Garden, Clermont, Kissimmee, Lake Nona). Click your city in the service-area list above.
